The following sectors further highlight some of TechnoPark’s activities, through which we Endeavour to push beyond the boundaries of possibility. The selected strategic areas will serve TechnoPark in mainly local/ regional needs in a global context.

Water

Water is seen as one of the resources facing scarcity by the rapid population growth in the future. Today an overwhelming number of people do not have access to clean, freshwater, which eventually can lead to the spreading of epidemic diseases. Dubai and the UAE are today’s leading freshwater producers and capable of providing sufficient water to their inhabitants.

Health

Dubai is renowned for the quality of life it offers. The well developed health care system contributes to Dubai’s good reputation. This advantage has to be maintained and better amplified. The importance of the health sector has been increasing as the Dubai’s population grows with incoming foreign businesses, workers, and new residents.

Energy

Alternative / renewable Energy is a key focus area for DIT and this is partly due to the current debate about climate change and global warming. However, it is obvious that the natural resources of oil and gas will be depleted in the future. This applies for particularly Dubai, which never has been as rich in oil as its neighbours. The strategic research area of energy will be closely connected to construction business, a strength of Dubai’s economy, too. Here the application of all energy-saving measures possible should be considered to achieve environmentally friendly or even non-CO2-emitting construction.

Engineering

This strategic research area aims to promote competitive and sustainable growth of Arab industry. The purpose will not only be to identify areas of collaboration but also to bring together and integrate projects. Our main focuses are Nanotechnologies, development of new materials and Production Technologies and Processes.

Logistics/Mobility

The strategic research area mobility / logistics is of greatest importance for Dubai. Dubai is seen as an international transhipment and distribution hub for sea transport and airfreight in the region, with nearly no limitation concerning airport operation. Furthermore Dubai provides all means needed for international logistic providers, e.g. huge warehouse capacities located next to the harbour.
